Sally Bee

Description:

At the age of 36, Sally Bee juggled being a writer, TV presenter, wife and mum of three when she suffered three major heart attacks in a week in 2004.  While in the hospital the doctors called her husband to come and say goodbye, absolutely sure that she wouldn’t survive.  Sally didn’t smoke, didn’t drink and was fit and healthy and her story of survival and recovery from her heart attacks is nothing short of a miracle.  Sally is one of 30 odd survivors worldwide of a condition that is usually only diagnosed post-mortem.  Baby step by baby step, Sally defied all the odds and, 5 years on, is glowing with health.

During recovery, thinking she wouldn’t live for much longer, the most important thing for Sally was the family sitting down to eat together.  To help her heart, Sally needed to eat healthily but her kids didn’t want just salads and seeds, so she set about creating new recipes that they’d all enjoy, including versions of comforting classics and delicious puddings.

The product of all that thinking was her best selling book The Secret Ingredient, which Sally originally self published.  The book did really well and was then picked up and republished by Harper Collins and continues to go from strength to strength.  The Secret Ingredient is due to be published in the United States in June and Sally’s second book will be out in the UK in early 2011.

Sally has appeared on various TV shows, including This Morning on ITV, proving just how simple and tasty her recipes really are.

Sally is now a fundraiser for heart charities, a trained heart therapist giving regular talks to heart rehabilitation groups and an NHS ‘Expert Patient’.  Unsurprisingly her passion is nutritious gastronomy!
